Rider-Waite 78 card Tarot Deck
Tarot card decks usually have 78 cards. Each card has its own divination or meaning. Tarot decks share their origin with playing cards.
The most traditional pack is the Rider-Waite deck that’s origins date from the 1700s, with the current imagery published in 1909.
The Rider-Waite deck is split into two Arcana.
Major Arcana – 22 cards:
The Major Arcana cards are the trumps and are unsuited. Each card represents a major force to be taken quite seriously when it appears in a divination.
Minor Arcana – 56 cards:
These are divided into four suits: Cups, Pentacles (also called Coins), Swords and Wands,.
Each suit has its own meaning and each suited card brings its own message to a divination.
